Key Responsibilities 🎯
- Safe & Timely Transportation: Operate company vehicles (e.g., cars, vans, or light trucks) in a safe, legal, and efficient manner, adhering to all scheduled timelines. ⏱️
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections (checking oil, fuel, tires, etc.) and report any maintenance issues or vehicle damage immediately.
- Navigation & Routing: Plan and navigate the most efficient routes using GPS and knowledge of Toronto and GTA traffic patterns to ensure on-time deliveries.
- Customer Interaction: Provide friendly and professional service during pick-ups and drop-offs, acting as a positive representative of KILONEWTONS.
- Documentation: Accurately complete and maintain logs of trips, mileage, and deliveries (e.g., driver log sheets, delivery manifests).
- Cargo Handling: Ensure all items are loaded, secured, and unloaded safely to prevent damage during transit.
- Compliance: Strictly follow all traffic laws, company policies, and transportation regulations.
Must-Have Skills & Qualifications 🛠️
- 5+ years of proven professional driving experience.
- Valid License: A full, clean Class G (or higher) Ontario driver’s license. A clean driver’s abstract is required. 🪪
- Road Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) roads, highways, and traffic patterns.
- Safety First: An impeccable safe driving record and a strong commitment to safety protocols.
- Physical Ability: Capability to lift and carry packages (up to 50 lbs) and perform loading/unloading duties.
- Reliability: Punctual, dependable, and professional in appearance and demeanor.
- Tech Basics: Ability to use basic technology like a smartphone for GPS navigation, email, and logging hours.
Nice-to-Have Skills 🌟
- Experience with defensive driving courses.
- Familiarity with using a two-way radio for communication.
- Experience driving larger vehicles (e.g., delivery vans, cube trucks).
- A valid forklift certification.
