🧠 Job Overview

As a Design Engineer at KILONEWTONS, you’ll be responsible for designing, developing, and improving engineering systems, components, and products. You’ll collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure every project meets performance, safety, and quality standards delivering innovative solutions that make a lasting impact.

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Sydney.


⚙️ Key Responsibilities

  • 🧩 Design and develop mechanical, civil, or electrical systems based on project requirements.
  • 📐 Create detailed 2D and 3D models, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • 🧮 Perform calculations, simulations, and stress analysis to verify design integrity.
  • 💡 Develop prototypes and test design functionality and feasibility.
  • 🔍 Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety codes, and regulations.
  • 🧰 Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers to optimize solutions.
  • 📊 Prepare documentation, reports, and design presentations for internal and client reviews.
  • 🧭 Support the R&D team in improving product performance, cost efficiency, and sustainability.
  • 🚀 Stay up-to-date with the latest engineering trends, tools, and technologies.

💻 Required Skills & Software Proficiency

  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, design processes, and manufacturing methods.
  • Proficiency in industry-leading software tools:
    • AutoCAD / SolidWorks / CATIA / NX Siemens
    • ANSYS / MATLAB / FEA Tools (for simulations)
    • Revit / Inventor (for 3D modeling)
  • Understanding of materials, manufacturing techniques, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) and GD&T standards.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and creative thinking skills.
  • Excellent technical communication and teamwork abilities.

🎓 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Design Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in design and product development.
  • Proven ability to lead design projects from concept to completion.
  • Familiarity with Australian design codes and industry standards.
  • A portfolio showcasing previous design work will be an advantage.
