Key Responsibilities 🎯
- Financial Management: Manage full-cycle accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations. 🔍
- Month-End Close: Lead the timely and accurate preparation of month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) for management.
- Payroll Processing: Oversee and process semi-monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory regulations.
- Tax Compliance: Assist with the preparation and filing of HST, corporate tax, and other government remittances. Work with external tax advisors for the year-end tax return.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Support the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, providing insightful variance analysis.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to accounting systems, procedures, and internal controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Audit Preparation: Prepare all necessary documentation and serve as a key point of contact for annual external audits.
Must-Have Skills & Software 🛠️
- 5+ years of progressive experience in a full-cycle accounting role.
- Professional Designation: Must be a designated CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant).
- Software Proficiency:
- Accounting Software: Advanced expertise in QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop is essential.
- Spreadsheet Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros, etc.).
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises) and Canadian tax principles.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze financial data and prepare clear, concise reports.
- Attention to Detail: Unwavering commitment to accuracy and precision in all tasks.
Nice-to-Have Skills 🌟
- Experience with integrated ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct).
- Experience in a project-based or engineering services environment.
- Proficiency in data visualization tools like Power BI.
- Bilingual abilities (English/French).
